The Value of Green IT - where are CIOs seeing the biggest pay-off?
Alan Tsao / Research
Manager, Enterprise Solution,
IDC Taiwan |
|
This session will look at market forces, regulations and primary drivers for the adoption of Green IT in the Asia/Pacific region. It will include examples best practice deployment case studies, highlighting where CIOs are using Green technology to not only cut operating costs, but also to positively impact the environment in terms of electricity consumption & IT equipment recycling initiatives. It will also provide insights into the buying behavior of Asia/Pacific companies with respect to Green IT, based on CIO interviews captured from the IDC Asia/Pacific Green Poll. Finally, IDC will share some of the results of the first phase of the Green Index - an assessment of the 'Greenness' of the leading ICT players and their activities relating to Green IT in the region. |

Energy Effectiveness in the Data Centre
|
Gary Lee 李家瑞 / Director, Technology Solutions Group , HP Taiwan |
Maximum energy efficiency in the data center can only be achieved by addressing all operational aspects, from the data center infrastructure to energy efficiently platforms. This session will describe the key components for balancing energy consumption with performance, provide specific examples and best practices, and discuss how to achieve an integrated approach. |

The Open Green Data Center - Succeeding in the Open Enterprise with Novell |
Leo Liu / WorkGroup Product Manager, Novell |

See GREEN Now |
John Kao / Country Manager, Tandberg |
| There is overwhelming consensus that global warming and the climate change it brings is real and impacts everyone. For companies, that means finding ways to go green without raising costs or sacrificing productivity. Green reputations positively impact a company's customers, employees, and brand value. In this session, we will share with you workable steps your business can embark on to be green as well as examples of how leading organizations have benefited from their green initiatives. |

Journey to designing an innovative & energy efficient data centre of the future |
Today’s new reality is that the data centre does not support the business—it powers the business.Data centre risks are now business risks, and data centre opportunities are now business opportunities. And business success is inextricably linked to data centre strategy. However, many businesses with last-generation data centres are facing obstacles—skyrocketing energy costs, infrastructure and capacity restrictions, and limited power availability—that could impede business
success.
Computing-demand growth is exacerbating the increase in global energy use; and data centres, in particular—because of hardware cooling requirements—are the focus of attention.
To narrow the gap between the demands of computing performance and the adoption of energyefficiency improvements, this presentation seeks to help attendees understand some of the energyefficient strategies that can be implemented in ways that do not compromise data centre availability, performance, or security. Attendees will go through scenario planning in an interactive session with experts that are leaders in energy-efficiency facilities design, energy modelling,
measurement, and verification.
At HP, we want to help your organization create an energy-efficient data centre that allows you tocontrol costs, conserve energy, cut your carbon footprint, and achieve sustainable businessoutcomes. |

Energy Optimization |
Intel |
| This presentaiton will show how accelerating infrastructure refresh can reduce your costs while reducing your carbon footprint. ROI analysis will be used to quantify the potential efficiencies that can be gained by deploying servers based on the latest Intel Xeon processors, and also illustrate how HP can bring additional benefits from chip to chiller in the data center. |
